Ebenezer Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah
and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, till here the Lord helped us 1 Samuel 7:12
Ebenezer means "stone of help," or "till here the Lord help us." If we want blessings, the Baals and Ashtaroth,
idols, must be torn down (V4). Jesus Christ must be Lord of all or not Lord at
all will. That people confessed their sin (v6). They feel the need to pray and
ask Samuel to intercede (v8). Samuel placed the memorial stone between Mizpah and Shen (v12). Mizpah is "Atalaya" means prayer and Sen's
"Tooth" means biting the enemy. So Samuel got in the
"watchman" of prayer and bit the enemy. It is good to memory stones
in our lives (Psalm 103: 1-3).
I. YESTERDAY: HAS HELPED US
Helped, it resembles a
hand pointing us last. It was several years, however, "has helped us
to." In wealth, poverty, health or sickness, "helped" Remember
Psalm 40: 1-3, helped by his escort "the goodness and mercy" (Psalm 23: 6)
II. TODAY: HERE
TO HELP.
HERE This means today, speaks of this.
1. Material: "Lord give us our daily bread". Not
yesterday or tomorrow. He has blessed us here, today we have his faithful
protection.
2. Morally: we’re surrounded by love and fond affections.
His arm is not shortened to bless TODAY. (Lamentations. 3: 22-23).
3. In the spiritual: His Word today is as powerful as it was
yesterday. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is our God TODAY. 2 Timothy 2:12 "For this
reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have
believed, and am convinced that he is able to keep what I have [a] to [b] that
day. "
III. TOMORROW. WILL BE HERE TO HELP.
Lifting
certain sign and write "here" is also
future. It indicates that failed even to the end. There is still a way to
go and can be other trials, joys, temptations, successes and prayers, diseases,
pains, deaths, yet far we help.
REMEMBER: There is a glorious awakening in the likeness
of Jesus. There thrones, harps, singing, white dresses and glorious face of Jesus. He who loves you and help you here, will
help to forever. "He who began a good work in you will complete it"
(Philippians 1: 6.)
